Users can upload documents, videos, images and other files to any Content Item or Article based on their permission to edit the Content Item or Article.
In the example below, a user has published a 10-page PowerPoint file. The system even automatically identifies and lists similar content.
SMLWRLD Unlimited has several options that a user can upload to:
Multimedia - DAM (Digital Asset Management)
The Multimedia – DAM allows users to upload one image/video/document. This element is widely used as the feature item of a Content Item or Article.
Assets are uploaded by clicking the "Upload" button and then using the simple drag & drop interface. Irrespective of the file format, the DAM system intelligently generates previews to be used throughout the site. All common file formats are accepted:
- Images (JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF etc.)
- Videos (MP4, MOV, FLV, M4V etc.)
- Audio (MP3, WMV, OGG, AIFF etc.)
- Office (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX etc.)
- Adobe (PSD, AI, INDD etc.)
- Other (ZIP, PDF etc.)
Please note .zip won't generate a preview.
Users can click "+ Upload New" if they wish to upload a newer version of the image/document previously uploaded.
The asset itself can be previewed, downloaded, zoomed and deleted at the touch of a button.
For each asset, a list of the generated previews can be seen, along with their generation status and filesize.
For each asset, a “cover image” is automatically selected. For image files this is simply a thumbnail version of the image. For multipage documents this is the first page. For videos it will be a frame about 10 seconds from the start. Administrators have the option to upload a custom cover image for when the automatic one is unsuitable.
For each asset, a list of previous versions can be seen, allowing administrators to roll-back versions if so desired. Previous versions can also be deleted if necessary. Please note that you will lose your current version if you roll-back to a previous version.
Simple Image
At times, sites only want users to upload images to a location. User profile pictures are an example of this. SMLWRLD Unlimited has a simple image tool which allows users to upload any desired image. Clicking the upload button will take users to their file explorer to select their image.
Attachments
Quite often, additional documentation and files which are relevant to a Content Item or Article need to be associated. While these documents are important, they are generally not the feature, but can be downloaded by users. Users can drag & drop their files to be attached, or select the upload file to browse via the file explorer.
Text (WYSIWYG) Editor
Our Text (WYSIWYG) Editor also allow users to embed multimedia content directly. Users can drag & drop their files or select browse files to upload their file through the file explorer.
All uploads are managed via the SMLWRLD Unlimited uploader function. This features industry-standard drag & drop functionality, as well as a progress bar and upload-complete notifications. The uploader virus scans all documentation to ensure that it is safe before appearing on your site. Document contents and metadata are all indexed by the SMLWRLD Global Search, and everything is searchable.
SMLWRLD Unlimited also provides admins several bulk upload widgets to help with large job lots of documents or other content that need to be created.
