Sidebar menu

What is a sidebar?

A sidebar is used as a directory for related pages to that section, and in this instance, is located on the left hand side (left hand menu). Sidebars have large surface areas because of horizontally longer layouts, therefore providing a quick way to navigate through the site. Some sidebars may also have accordions. Accordions are graphical control elements comprising of vertically stacked lists of items. Each item can be 'expanded' or 'collapsed' to reveal the content associated with that item.
